Nagin Finds Death "Advantageous"

New Orleans Mayor, Ray Nagin has once again lost his battle with the debilitating foot in mouth disease that continually rears its ugly head at the most inopportune times.

“It’s not good for us, but it also keeps the New Orleans brand out there, and it keeps people thinking about our needs and what we need to bring this community back,” he said. “Sure it hurts, but we have to keep working every day to make the city better.”

That’s good ‘ol Ray Nagin for ya. I mean, he spoke the truth when he said New York still had a whole in the ground after five years, so get off his back about revamping New Orleans, but to intimate people dying could in any way be turned into a positive is straight crazy. Anti-violence activist Baty Landis called Nagin’s remarks “stunningly insensitive.”

“New Orleans is not a brand, it’s a city. We’re not products. We’re people with
lives, some of which are being taken by other people.”

Baty Landis should get a gander at one of the videos attached to this webpage and maybe he’ll understand Nagin’s comment.
