“Karl Rove is moving on down the road,” says Baby Bush. “We’ve been friends for a long time and we’re still going to be friends…I’ll be in the road behind you here in a bit.”Really?
What "road"? Road? That statement makes me nervous considering tornados are touching down in Brooklyn. and that fool's talking about "roads." Would that be the yellow brick road Mr. Bush? Are you going off to see a wizard?
“I just think it’s time. There’s always something that can keep you here, and as much as I’d like to be here, I’ve got to do this for the sake of my family.”
Well. I guess Rove pulled the short straw at the waterside talks. Mr. Rove is no stranger to controversy at the white House; (i) he faced investigation in the same White House leak case I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby received a pass from Bush on and (ii) he became a target of intense scrutiny in Congress over the firings of a number of U.S. attorneys. Since the white House has asserted executive privilege in refusing to comply with congressional demands for documents and interviews, supposedly, Rove’s departure is likely to lessen the intensity of that constitutional clash, if only slightly. So why is he leaving? Rove’s dual role as political adviser and a senior policy aide, has raised new questions, but Rove insists his decision to resign is a personal one. Sure. Well we’ll see how they wrap up this Gonzales thingy before Rove leaves the White House at the end of the month because he’ll no longer be under the protection of White House when it comes to Congressional subpoenas.
“The white House did not say early Monday whether Mr. Bolten would name a
successor to Mr. Rove, who held a “deputy chief of staff” title.
