Mystic's Rating: On a scale of 1-5. This was a 31/2.
If for no other reason, I found this movie enjoyable because 4 out of 6 of the main characters were chocolate eye candy; LL, Mekhi, Chiwetel and Taye. Yum! Ray Liotta did Ray Liotta and Jolene Blalick played the conniving beyotch quite well. She was all sexy, deceiving and cold-hearted and remained an enigma right through to the end of the movie. We didn't see much of Taye, and his luke-warm performance suggested he was tired of waiting for his turn to shine so he just came out and did whatever. At least I got to see him smile though. Mekhi was sexy as usual and played the obsessed lover quite well. There's this part where he's holding the chick by her chin real rough-like and he's like "Look at me, look at me." All I could do was look at him!

This movie was fast-paced yet I had no problem keeping up with the storyline. If nothing else the writer/director was pretty consistent except when he talked about race. Sometimes the references were pertinent and sometimes they seemed kind personal and unnecessary. Considering I can't readily find a picture of the brother/guy on the internet, I may be on to something. Wayne Beach may actually have a future in film considering this was his directorial debut and it wasn't half bad.
